Pass The Dip Profile: The Crantini Kid

THE CRANTINI KID

1                    What is your nickname? Crantini Kid.  It is also my real name.  Mom calls me Cran.
2                    How long have you been playing poker? I started playing 5-card draw at about 10 years of age, with a video game called Strip Poker for my Commodore 64.  I was pretty good at getting those virtual ladies naked.  Of course, all you really had to do was bet/raise the max, then draw only 1 or 2 cards, and eventually she'd fold.  That's the origin of my mad bluffing skills.  As I got older, my tastes turned to real opponents, and I finally found this crazy group of degenerate gamblers around 2003.  Since then, I've donated a pile of cash to try to help them improve their skills so that one day they might be able to really challenge me.
3                    Do you prefer cash games or tournaments (and what type?) I'm mainly a cash game player.  It's much easier to lose large sums of money in smaller periods of time, which is where I excel.  Plus it's better action.  Of course there's reckless moments, but most of the time there is real poker being played.  Just not by me.  Tournaments can be fun too, but the action gets downright stupid at times.
4                    What is your favourite hand? A-10 off-suit.  It never loses.  Ever.  It simply can't be beaten.  Except when I'm holding it.
5                    What is your favorite personal poker moment? Tough question.  It's the crappy moments that always stick out in my mind.  Llike losing a $130 tournament at the Plaza in Vegas when some donkey pushes all in pre-flop under the gun with 7-3 off-suit, and I look down to see pocket aces.  He had me just barely covered, and the board handed him two 3's and a 7.  After that, I got my revenge by getting really, really, really drunk and playing the most aggressive, craziest, stupid cash game poker I've ever played in my life, causing me to lose my entire bankroll for the trip.  Oh, and that was only the first night there.  Which leads me to  my personal favourite poker moment, which is the next day, when I sat at that same cash table and played a solid 8 hours of the most focused, most intelligent poker of my life, and managed to recover every penny I had lost the night before.  Then Clayton got offended because an old geezer at the table wouldn't "cheers" him, so we all cashed out in protest.  Classic Vegas.
6                    At our game, who would you most like to
a.       Felt? Nat X.  His money tastes so good.
b.      Slow roll? I don't roll like that...... But if I did, I'd totally slow roll Gepeddo.
c.       Lose a pot to (if you had to)? Clayton.  I never mind handing him my chips, because the man just plain outplays me.  I hand him a lot of chips.  A lot.
7                    Tell a memorable / funny moment you witnessed at the home game. I fell asleep at the table once.  I guess I didn't actually witness that, so it doesn't count.  It's been so long since I've been to the home game, the memories are all fuzzy.  I guess I'll have to come out sometime and make new ones.

I absolutely love your answers Cran! You bring up so many vivid memories (except the commodore 64 stuff).

Next time you are in town, we will hold a special event for you.

Again, great answers!!!

Best profile yet!

I hate that dartboard picture. That bracelet was mine and I got robbed in the final. Oh well, the heads up is back so I'm going to avenge my loss this time around.

Big seXy -

How soon we forget how we lucked through the little people to even be in the final.

Im not going to relate any cold deck stories here, but at one point you were 8% to make the final....

The dartboard picture is now in tatters because when I have downtime, I try and spike a dart in your eye Cran.

If you do come to town for a game, you should definitely wear sports goggles.

I cruised into the playoffs and crushed that tournament. Dont' be sad b/c I out drew you once, it was bound to happen eventually ;)

X, I remember how bad you wanted this tournament. At the time I think you knew you were dead money in tournaments, especially since you were driving a van during most of this one. I think the rest of us would have had to agree.

Since then you have been a regular top 10 finisher.

Ok, make that top 3...

X - gonna give it to ya said...

I think you're trying to reverse underhill* me and it's not going to work.

To clarify I still am dead money in all tournaments. Also, I play ABC and never make moves or play position properly (hopefully that threw some people off my scent) Insert Nat X scent jokes here __________________________

*underhill - an extremely advanced crib strategy that Kramp could never comprehend.

Don't worry Nat, next time I'm in town I'll let you clean me out. I haven't played in a year and a half, so I'm just a walking ATM. I'll have to bring my copy of Poker for Dummies. Wait, a flush beats two pair, right?

CRANTINI!!!!!!

Keep checking in on your profile and it'll get bumped back into the top 10 views.

When are you back in Winnipeg? Maybe we'll hold a Crantini Kid night where A 10 is wild...

By the way your losing all your cash on the first night in Vegas and then grinding every cent of it back the next night at the exact same table is one of my all time favourite grinder stories. Classic!

Keep the comments coming buddy....

Apparently it took only me and you leaving comments on your profile to bump you back into the top 10 viewed posts - People can't get enough of The Crantini Kid!

Time to bump my profile up again. I just can't get enough of reading about myself.

Anyway, I'm coming to town. Very soon. Still working on the details. I'll let you know.

I can hardly wait! Make sure you keep Dipper nation posted.

By the way, Papasan thinks you are a comedic genius, to very very loosely paraphrase.

You should do a blog so he has something to follow...

Hey Dip Master General, I'll be in town from the 22nd until the 2nd. I hope you have room in your social calendar for a play date.

Crantini, you couldn't have picked a better time to come! Let me know what you want to do and we'll make it happen!

Maybe I will run the next WSOD while you are here - a night of poker in your honour!

I am stoked my friend!!!
