Pass The Dip Player Profile: KRAMP

A regular feature I will be posting is the "Pass The Dip Player Profile" ("Player Profiles"under labels).  Our first player to be profiled is;

KRAMP

  1. What is your nickname?  I've been called Kramp, Krampster and Krafty....I prefer Krampstar!
  2. How long have you been playing poker?  I've been playing poker for about 3 years.
  3. Do you prefer cash games or tournaments (and what type?)  I prefer tournaments…texas hold’em no limit. Depending on the cash game I sometimes really like playing cash. My favourite cash game is our home game. My least favourite  cash game is the casino.
  4. What is your favorite hand?  I don’t really have a favourite hand other than AA I suppose. I try not to play favourites because I hate being superstitious. If I had to say a hand that I play more often than I should it’s probably J10.
  5. What is your favorite personal poker moment?  My favourite poker moment is any time I win a big pot.
  6. At our game, who would you most like to
      1. Felt?  Clayton without a doubt!
      2. Slow roll?   Nobody I hate slowrolling, however, if someone was being a jerk to me then I would, but nobody at our game has done that.
      3. Lose a pot to (if you had to)?  If I had to lose a pot it would be to the most humble, which is myself……however, it would be weird losing a hand to yourself……so I would say co or dandy.
  7. Tell a memorable / funny moment you witnessed at the home game. Most memorable moment was watching lemon and sheldon perform the most ridiculous hand that I have ever seen…….sheldon calling lemon’s all in with A high in a pot that was about 600 dollars…….crappy thing was that I ACTUALLY HAD A HAND AND FOLDED TO THEIR AGGRESION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pass The Dip On The Road / Separated at Birth?

Thank you to Michael Smith and his friends who had a couple of us out to his place for a tournament last night.  He is friends with Lemon who extended the invite to a few of us for the 30 man tournament.

Here's how it all went down;

Co Bra got snapped off early after the re-buy period.  I didn't see him play a single hand, but I'll bet there was a coin involved.

When I went to check on Kramp who was playing on a table in another room, he seemed to be doing well.  So in the spirit of the game I put a 10 dollar bounty on his head that he had to keep as part of his stack.  Despite this, he managed to build a monster stack after the re-buys were done.  "Oh yeah, this is all because I'm a luck sack" he responded when I asked how he got all the chips.  Then with a big stack and closing in on the final table, he played his 10s too aggressively and dumped almost the whole thing to a guy who was check-calling.  He was soon out in 13th or 14th, knocked out by Lemon.

I was the next out.  I had developed a good stack before the re-buys were over and then I had bad seat draws and got nothing.  By the time we hit the final table, I was dwindling in chips and drew the worst seat at the table.  The biggest stacks were 2  and 3 to my left and Lemon with the next biggest and the most aggressive game was to my right.  I was trapped into playing only real hands with no option for stealing.  On my last hand my KQ got called by K7 suited pre-flop, but the river spiked the dude a club and I was out in 5th - at least it was in the money!

Lemon has hit in the face with the deck early, creating a "table of death" as player after player was placed at our table  only to be eliminated after a few hands.  The other tables had 2 players total eliminated before the re-buy, while our table alone eliminated 7!  On one hand Lemon eliminated 2 players at once with his well-played aces.  Despite his problem remembering chip values, he played well and made it all the way to heads up before getting eliminated in 2nd place.

Mike and a few of the players there extended invitations to future tournaments.

Again thanks Mike for the invite!  We will be back!

And lastly..

SEPARATED AT BIRTH???

Russell Hantz - 2nd place at Survivor: Samoa

Michael Lemon - 2nd place at surviving the tournament;  Smith's house
(By the way this is the "collecting the bounty" shot after Lemon eliminated Kramp - hahaha)

Recent Comments Section - Great New Addition!

I just added a great new feature so that you can keep up to date on the most recent comments throughout the various posts.  Look on the right side to see teasers of each comment.  If you want to read more and/or reply, click on the comment and the original blog will come up with all the previous comments.

If you like the Pass The Dip blog and want it to be as fun and interactive as possible I really encourage you to get a log in name (save the anonymous tags for your mom to use when you tell her to check out the pictures of your WSOD win).

You only need to create your log in once; it will always be there for you and it will be ultra easy to leave your comments any time you'd like.

The greatest part of our original web site (thanks to the Crantini Kid) was the ongoing chatter back and forth.  It allows for new content all the time without having to wait for a new blog post.  It also allows opinions other than just mine to be heard (hmmm maybe I have to give this thing a little more thought...)

World Series of Poker 2011

2011 WSOP Schedule

The World Series of Poker 2011 schedule has been announced.  Even though it is the main competitor for The World Series of Dip, we treat them as a sister entity and work very hard with them to avoid conflicts so players can attend both events without having to choose.

Here is the schedule from the WSOP site;

http://www.wsop.com/2011/

Poker News has a complete break down of the events as well information on any of the other poker tours;

http://www.pokernews.com/news/2011/01/your-guide-to-hold-em-events-at-the-2011-world-series-of-pok-9737.htm

I'll add a couple of links under the "Interesting Links" section for future reference as well.

Good luck to Big Stack Bobby and Tucker who are in a poker league where the top prizes are entries into WSOP events!

This is something that we at Pass The Dip might look at for 2012.  Intriguing, isn't it?

Random Rounders Quote

[Mike's girlfriend has just left him over his broken promise not to play poker]
Worm: You know what always cheers me up?
Mike McDermott: No, what's that?
Worm: Rolled up aces over kings. Check-raising stupid tourists and taking huge pots off of them. Playing all-night high-limit Hold'em at the Taj, "where the sand turns to gold." Stacks and towers of checks I can't even see over.
Mike McDermott: Fuck it, let's go.
Worm: Don't tease me.
Mike McDermott: Let's play some cards.
Worm: Yes!

T Mart Takes Down The Cold Deck Classic 2011

(FOR MORE ON THIS EVENT GO TO THE WSOD OR THE COLD DECK CLASSIC PAGES)

BHiS whis jussst a twestt
HHis ist jsst a twest
This is just a test     - Looks good the fingers are now back to normal!

Congratulations to T-Mart who took down the first WSOD bracelet for 2011 by eliminating all 9 others in what turned out to be our longest Cold Deck Classic to date.

2011 Cold Deck Classic winner - T-Mart
Don't you think she looks like she could go for at least 8 to 10 minutes more?  As it was, we started at 6:30 with 3 feeder tournaments.  We realized quickly that there are a bunch of nits in the game who actually wait for cards - this drew the first game out to over 2 hours.  Maybe the cold didn't kick in yet.

Game one chip totals:

Bob - 0
Kailey - 0
Ali - 1700
Shepit - 0
Clayton - 21150
Army - 9675
T-Mart - 7325
Ryan - 0
Harv - 0
Kramp - 11050

Game 2 went a bit faster, although 1 1/2 hours was over the goal of 1 hour.

Game 2 chip totals:

Bob - 13925
Kailey - 0
Ali - 3675
Shepit - 0
Clayton - 17450
Army - 1900
T-Mart - 11050
Ryan - 0
Harv - 0
Kramp - 0

Game 3 left some interesting dynamics as 4 players had not yet made the final table.  Those comfortable with chips could dump their stack and warm up inside or stay and try and put the nail in the coffin of the 4 who were fighting for their lives.

All accumulated chips from the first 3 games would go to the final table as each players starting stack

Game 3 chip totals:

Bob - 6250
Kailey - 0
Ali - 0
Shepit - 0
Clayton - 4100
Army - 18200
T-Mart - 0
Ryan - 7700
Harv - 0
Kramp - 9750

Well 3 players didn't make it.  As far as I could tell, Kailey got unlucky in a couple spots / Sloppy Slow Pots Shepit got runner runnered by Big Stack Bobby for their stacks and Harv didn't get hands and lost races, which is a bad combo.

All accumulated chips from the first 3 games would go to the final table as each players starting stack.

Final table starting chip counts:

Clayton - 42700
Army - 29800
Bob - 24200
Kramp - 20800
T-Mart - 18400
Ryan - 7700
Ali - 5400

Final standings:

Ryan - 7th
Ali - 6th
Army - 5th
Kramp - 4th
Bob - 3rd
Clayton - 2nd
T-Mart - 1st

Ryan and Ali both didn't have many chips to work with but made good efforts and got their money in decent spots, without any luck.

I believe Army felt like the winner by getting to go inside in 5th.  He reminded me of a run down house (he had terrible shutters).

Kramp put up a good fight but his reads were frosty and he dribbled chips trying to keep me honest.

Bob was in great shape until T-Mart decided it was his time to go, and then she stepped on the gas and ran him over.  She kept out-pipping him for big hands and Big Stack was a No-Stack.

T-Mart started with more chips than I did and I chipped away until I had the chip lead.  Then the pivotal hand came  where I had 2nd touch and an outside straight draw and she had top pair.  Many chips were sacrificed in the carnage.  She went on a bit of a run that I couldn't match and on the final hand my KQ proved 2nd best to her AJ and she took it down (at 2:30 AM no less).  She played great, patient poker despite the fact that she was dying of the cold.  Definitely the deserving winner on this night!

As T-Mart, Kailey and Ali said all night, raise the V.  And that T-Mart did.  By the way, I think is a great logo for The Raging V Poker Club...

Running Time = 8 hours

Temperature = -22 Celsius

Doesn't this make you wonder, "Flap or no flap?"

Staging area - I'm not sure why Jamie brought a jacket - ka-BOOM!

Despite her protests, no one seriously believed that Mia was really Kailey.

This is our poker dugout - this makes my snowblower worth the investment.

...and all of a sudden in a puff of smoke, Gepeddo appeared in seat 8.  Unfortunately that's where the magic ended for him.

Kailey receives a 10 minute no talking ban.

Where there is smoke, there must be fire and boy-howdy is that T-Mart hot...poker and otherwise!

The steam above Ali-G looks like a cartoon bubble (I'm sure if it was it would say "Raise the V" or "I thought peeing my pants would keep me warmer for much longer!")

I think it is ironic that Ali and Kailey were the only people with beaver hats.  In the same vein, Kramp's hat was made out of donkey.

I didn't notice until reviewing the pictures, but I believe Sloppy Slow Pots was drinking from a sippy cup.

Clayton has a ball.

My secret to staying warm for 8 hours?  Hand warmers taped to my nipples.

Mid hand action.  I had the camera and reached around as T-Mart checked her hole cards.  She had my outs and I had to fold.

Pizza delivery arrives.  You can always trust a delivery guy with his  hat on sideways, you know his job offers are minimal.  No pizza guy will ever live up to our Pizza guy, Solly!

Big Stack Bobby and his never ending angle shooting mind games give me the finger.

With all the lights and the feature table, it felt like we were at a WPT final table.  Maybe we can get coverage by shaw next year.

Look at the attentiveness.  Look at the concentration.  Cold-Schmold!!!  Patient, in control, picking the right moment to tear your chips from your grimy little hands, and there is nothing you can do about it!  Now that is a poker mind I do not want to mess with.  And sitting beside her is Kramp, hahahahahahahahaha.

If anyone knows who robbed the Husky station at 2960 Portage Avenue on Monday night, please contact the IPSO or the investigating officers at...

Is this (a) Ryan's tell when gets Aces, (b) Ryan looking at boobs or (c) Ryan doing his best Dandy Bloch imitation?

Now that I can see, I understand why my hands felt so cold.

You'd think it was warm out with all those naked hands.  We've talked about having some summer outside tournament, but it would be more fun with a twist.  Lemon wants us to wear exactly what we wore for this tournament.  Any other suggestions?

Q:  How is Kramp's poker game like the issues he has before the court?  In both cases he gets in trouble for exposing his junk.

5 minutes of warmth then 2 hours of cold.  Seems like a good balance!

Those that made the final table.

Gold, Silver and Bronze.  Somehow this picture foreshadows our actual finishing positions.  Looks like a real podium, doesn't it?

Raging V Poker Club Date Set For February - Open Invite for Vees

The Raging V Poker Club has set the date for their next poker tournament.

Saturday, February 26th will be a great night of poker with a reasonably priced buy in. This tournament will be well structured for those of you that are newer to the game and will have cheap re-buys for the first part of the game, just in case you find yourself on the wrong end of a bad beat early in the tournament.

You will also have the services of a guest dealer at your disposal, so you can focus on more on knocking out reigning champ Bobby Guarino.  Negotiations are on-going to have the dealer wear only a duty belt.

T-Mart has asked me to extend an invitation to any of the wives or girlfriends of the guys that play at Pass The Dip. This invitation is also extended other women that might be out there wishing to play.  Let T-Mart or Me know if there is someone that would like to come out.

I will keep you posted as the ladies get more information on the night to me.

Pictures Now Under Labels

I've realized that to access pictures as the volume grows, it is better to use the labels function than the pages function (function is static - meaning it acts as a single post).  This way you can quickly access pictures (or other posts) by clicking on whatever "label" interests you.  Both Pages and Labels can be found in the right column (for the 1 or 2 of you whose time is to valuable to figure it out yourself...)

Here are a few from a tournament in 2009 to tide you over (you can find who won under the World Series of Dip page).  I will add more every few days.

I believe this top had some very special adjectives assigned to it.

We are serious about Dandy's vest obsession

If we ever speak of "Sleeper Cell" we are referring to the handsome Mr. Haddad.

When Princess Leahy comes out he absolutely cleans up.  This must be early in the game because we can see him behind his chips.

Burnett hasn't come out often and this night it was handy he was so close to the door - the cards were not nice to him.

10 already in for the Cold Deck Classic.

So far we have a devastating line up for the Cold Deck Classic;

Me
X
Harvey
Big Stack Bobby
Dycker
T-Mart
Kramp
Alison
Kailey
Army

If anyone else wants in, and can make it 100% for sure, let me know ASAP.  I will only run a 2nd table if I get 4 or more players. If I don't get 4 more names and you commit, I might still be able to get you in....

I need to know soon so that I can arrange to have another table, cords and lights brought over.

Here is the latest predictions from Environment Canada for game night;

Cold Deck Classic now has a date!

The 4th annual Cold Deck Classic and all that that entails will be held on Monday, January 24th.  RSVP required!

Cards will be dealt at 6:20 so be at my house by 6:00.

It's a big enough deal in these parts that it commands it's own page; check it out for more info on this and past Cold Deck Classics.

This is Event 1 in the 2011 World Series of Dip.  Good luck to you all, second place is wide open at this point.

For those of you that have never been, here is a little taste from last year's game...

(and it was only -8 last year...)

I hate this game.  It always seems like a good idea when you are planning it, but it REALLY sucks when you are actually doing it!  What a bunch of donkemans...

January 14th's Game and My New Poker Clock

So the Cold Deck Classic was supposed to take place this past Friday but apparently every recreational sports league everywhere decided to schedule games that night.  It would've been a great night to play outside; warmish, soft flakey snow drifting onto my giant igloo shaped chip pile....but I digress.

We played a cash game and I new it would be a classic when Lemon, Nigel and I sat down 3 handed, each with $40 in chips and before the cards flew, I declared "I'm probably gonna go all in on this one.  Lemon raised on the button and I shoved from the BB...I don't know what Lemon had but my AQ was golden...Game ON!

A few vests showed up in support of and spurred on by Dandy Bloch's desire in recent e-mails to be open with his vest wearing.  Army had a vest that I assume will match a vest sized hole in his grandma's sofa.  Kirby (Vesty McMarion) wore hers to the distraction of one drunken boob.

We had a great turnout and had 2 tables running for most of the evening.

There was a lot of carnage at the tables with a lot of big all ins.  The lo-light of which was probably Lemon raising and getting raised all in for a ridiculous amount by Big Stack Bobby.  I'm not sure who the favorite was pre-flop (math is for idiots) but Lemon played my favorite hand (5d2d) to a massive win against Bob's Kings.

I think that Lemon's loss at the table ended up as a wash as he cleaned up with the Jet's win today.

For the 6 of us that thought it was 2:30 when it was really 5:00....I changed the battery in the basement clock and we shouldn't hear the roosters crow again without meaning to.  It really was the perfect poker clock - no one wants to bothered with trivial things like time when they are sitting at a soft poker game!

Welcome To My Poker Blog

If you are here, you have probably already been to our "pass the dip" poker home game or have received the invite, but have not yet pulled the trigger.  Welcome.

Here you will find polls, video links, and a variety of www links that I find interesting.  I will be blogging about our upcoming games, some post game analysis and I plan on making fun of a lot of you.  Haha - as 1990's hit makers SNAP! sang "I've got the power".

There are a lot of you that have other poker games or like playing at the casino and wish to extend the invite to others.  You can do that here.  I think you should be able to do this via leaving a comment following the latest post or you can let me know and I'll post it for you.  Also if there is something you'd like me to link to (your lava life profile) or post (socials / baby arrivals), let me know, and I'd be happy to help you out.

That's it for this post....look to the pages links on the right, because I'm leaving more posts right away.
