Pass The Dip Review

I loved Aria's poker room when I played there.  The poker hostess was unbelievably personable and remembered players as they came and went throughout the week.  (This could be because she took a video of Big Stack doing a teddy bear stand in the casino to jump the line and get the next poker seat.)

When I was there, the quality of play was slightly better than at some of the other casinos, with a number of locals grinding out the games as well as some decent tourists.  Having said that, the tables were not tough, and the conversation was friendly.  I mainly played 1-3 No Limit, but when I played Omaha, the players that thought they were highly skilled, were quite bad.  I only played 1 session, so it is a fairly small sample size.  As far as the dealers go, I have only good things to say.  The cocktail waitresses were scarce at peak hours, but were more readily available when the room wasn't full.

I love the feel of the Aria poker room, it is one of my favourites.  It has a laid back feel with its dark brown, taupe and deep red decor.  It also is surrounded by sculptures of cascading playing cards and flat screen TVs.

The most interesting thing for the poker tourist is that you have a great chance of seeing some of the world's famous poker celebrities in "Ivey's Room" which is clearly seen from the rest of the room.  Ivey's room is where some of the highest limit games are played, usually with friendly host Jean-Robert Bellande (you might remember him as the poker pro on Survivor: China).  There is also an elevated area that caters to higher limit games, starting at 5-10 No Limit and 12-24 Mix.

Aria is a Pass The Dip recommended poker room!
