Dip on the Road - Week 4 of 10

Week 4 of 10 is now in the books and all it did was create more of a log jam in the standings. The game started with 4 of us showing up on time. That created a lot of quick hands and attempts to pick up small dead pots. As people trickled in the action kind of picked up. People were playing pretty tight and then Lemon showed up. He then proceeded to say (and I'm paraphrasing, but not by much) that he wasn't going to pay $10 to sweat players he thought were terrible...and then he named names. He got out four names before Colin began to defend his honour. Sloppy Slow Pots nodded as he agreed with Lemon that he wasn't a good player, and then he dominated the table.

Chocolate Chips took Gretzky quading and Dandy paid the bill.
Dycker treaded water for an hour in game #2.
X marked the spot, and that spot was in Toronto.
Cheeseburger didn't eat any of the snacks, he had enough chips of his own.
K-Diddy should take up teaching poker. "Those that can do, those that can't...."
Lemon repeatedly Rodney Kinged the table.
Sloppy Slow Pots tried to outlast and succeeded to go out last.
Big Stack sucked out on Jack Bauer who was not playing.
Philly could've used some aids on the streets of Philadelphia.
Dandy Bloch was a chip mule for everyone else.
I tripped up K-Diddy's dreams of a big night.

Again the tables turned from game 1 to game 2. Shepit went from first to worst. He was the first player to win 2 tournaments and he is still in last (albeit with the gap closing)! 4 players tied for 2nd with 14 points this week. The points are so close from top to bottom - a 10 point swing in one night alone seems to happen every session. This league is going to go down to the wire!

Game 8 - Dandy loses the vest and his chips and his smile

54900 chips for me vs 1 black chip for Philly
Next league game is October 4th and will be at Lemon's house.  Directions to follow.

Dip on the Road - Week 3 of 10

Week three was held on Tuesday night and this time we took the show on the road.  Philly's doublewide garage was the perfect set up for a summer game except for the fact that our usual done-at-12 timeline pushed to 3 AM and Philly had a really really early appointment at 10:30 AM.

The first game started without Dandy Bloch who was in T.O. in what I imagine was a second trip for underground poker lessons. The other no-show was Cheeseburger who called from my house as the first few hands were being played.  Apparently he lives in a box (under a heat lamp) and didn't bother to check where the game was being played.  He didn't receive a ticket, racing back to Philly's who basically lives across the street from him.

Big Stack had more points than the Phil Ivey lawsuit
X marked the spot, and that spot was by the door.
K-Diddy brought his chip management team.
Mike took the Lemoncoaster to 9th street.  Twice.
Dandy played tight like a tiger in his absence.
Cheeseburger played like it was 9 at the mall - he closed the Gap.
Philly walked blindly into a full house.
Sloppy had the chips in his windshield removed by Lemon Autoglass
Dycker played game 1 like the Bruins, and game 2 like the Canucks.
Chocolate Chips was only semi-sweet.
I delivered BSB a big plate of rotten beets.

Winner of game 5 - Dycker

Game 1

11 points - Dycker
10 points - K-Diddy
9 points - Big Stack
8 points - Cheeseburger
7 points - Philly
6 points - Dandy Bloch
5 points - Chocolate Chips
4 points - Sloppy Slow Pots
3 points - Lemon
2 points - C-Funk
1 lowly point - X

Winner of game 6 - C-Funk

Game 2

11 points - C-Funk
10 points - Big Stack
9 points - Cheeseburger
8 points - K-Diddy
7 points - Dandy Bloch
6 points - Philly
5 points - X
4 points - Chocolate Chips
3 points - Lemon
2 points - Dycker
1 lowly point - Sloppy Slow Pots

Note:  One session after Big Stack Bobby set an almost unbeatable low point record with 3 points in a night, he came back with a new record for high points with 19.  It kind of sums up BSB's game.  NIce work buddy!

Dip on the Road - Week 2 of 10

Last night was the second set of tournaments in our Dip on the Road poker league.  Check the pages link in the right column for our dedicated page with tonnes of info.

This session just prior to the start of dealing out the first card, Big Stack and I surprised the crew with something we'd been working hard on for a couple of months - our own personalized league sweaters.  Dandy is considering ripping off his sleeves to make a sweater vest.

Swag and swagger.

Lemon went Titanic on us, he started out unbeatable and then hit an Aceburg.
Bobby brought a knife to a gun fight.
Philly went to #1 with a bullet
Dycker went quading.
K-Diddy made a u-turn in the dip on the road.
Nat X is planning a week 3 Underhill (Advanced crib strategy for poker players)
Cheeseburger played like he was supersized.
Dandy didn't have the stones to lay down his top 2 to Sloppy's 2 gapper-to-the-ass-end of a straight.
I laid down every J2 I was dealt.
Sloppy - Most every one felt his game 2 donkey punch.
Chocolate chips still looked good.

This week profiled some extremely fun needling, most notably at Lemon's expense after he took down the first tournament and then in the very first hand of the second game, he got knocked out.  Check out this picture, doesn't it scream "How else do you want me to play it?"

My answer  to your question Lemon, is "better".

What does Lemon have in common with April 15th, 1912?

Dip on the Road - Week 1 of 10

Last night was the first of 10 nights in our road to the World Series of Poker 2012.  The details of this league are here Look Out! Dip on the Road Ahead!

We started out by giving all the players a card marker - Sloppy Slow Pots traded for the "Angel Wings" and didn't realize until the end of the night that it was his to keep.  Whoops.

We had the place stocked with snacks and drinks, and of course the Blackhawks were dominating on the big screen.  Cards started to fly at exactly 7:00 as the stragglers straggled in.

Sloppy played 2 poker matches and managed to fit in a hockey game right smack in the middle.
Philly got renamed Philadelphia.  Maybe it's because of his lesions of fans.
Bobby openly admired Chocolate Chips.
Dycker needled Dandy, who seemed not to notice.
K-Diddy went home to do his laundry mid tournament (I guess a man has to look good.)
Lemon shove fested.
I gave myself a lot of time to take care of the periphery items.
Cheeseburger played like a Big Mac
Nat X was spectacular in his absence.
Chocolate Chips landed chips like it was Christmas at Heathrow.
Dandy played like he was a big deal!

Poker League Starts This Week!

The mystery surrounding the cryptic page called Look Out!  Dip on the Road Ahead! has been cleared.

I've updated the page to reveal a year long poker league.

If it goes well in the inaugural year, we may expand to more than the 11 players we have this year.  There has been plenty of interest from players other than those that were quick to sign up.

The first game is this Tuesday night and I will be posting pictures, results and on-going stats in the days following.

Click here for more information on this awesome development.

New Page Added

I've added a new page to the blog called "Look Out!  Dip on the Road Ahead!"  there is minimal information on it at the moment, but you can be sure there will be LOTS of stuff and a good explanation coming in the near future.
