2011 NBC Heads Up Poker ChampionshipNBC has announced its lineup for the annual NBC Heads Up Poker Championship. 64 poker pros will each pay a $25 000 entry fee and the first prize will be $750 000. For those not familiar with this tournament, it is run as a bracket event, much like college basketball's March Madness. All of the matches will be knock out events, meaning it is a best of 1. The final will be the only match that will be a best of 3 to determine this year's Champion. The tournament was won last year by Annie Duke although she will have a tough time defending her title against a very talented field. Caesar's Palace will host the event from March 4th to 6th with the draw to determine the player's spots in the bracket to be held the day before. The event will air on NBC for 6 consecutive Sundays starting April 17th. If anyone is interested in putting $20 up and we can each pick 4 or 6 pros to sweat, let me know!
A pool would be fun but I think it would be hard to have multiple people choosing without having duplicate pros selected. Suggestions?
This tournament is soon, so act fast if you are interested!
i would be interested if others are. i don't want to just be picking against the luckiest guy here.....(lucksack schneider)
I'm in, let me know the details when you figure it out
POOL PARTICULARS;
OK - if anyone is in for the pool we were discussing in the comments for this post, this is how it will run;
Cost = $20
You pick 6 names and if the winner is one of your players you win the entire pool. If another player(s) picks the winner as well, you split it equally.
You will give me a list of another 20 players and these you will rank. If no one picks the winner in their 6 picks, we will revert to this list. The person with the winner in the highest ranking will win the entire prize pool.
For example if no one picks Annie Duke in their top 6, we see if anyone has her in their list of 20. If Kramp has her as his first pick and Big Stack has her at 20th, Brain Kramp wins the money.
If no one picks the winner in either list, we will use the 2nd place finisher as the winner and go back to the list of 6 before moving again to the list of 20.
If you are in, e-mail me your picks before Noon on March 3rd.
I am e-mailing my picks to my own e-mail account shortly so that my picks will be made and time stamped before seeing any of your picks.
So far Big Stack Bobby and I have our picks in and X and Kramp sound like they will be in as well. Anyone else interested?
i'm emailing you the winning list now.
My picks are emailed in.
Not sure I did this right but Funk I will e-mail my picks to you. Hell if it involves money from Bobby I am in. Even if he is waiting to slow roll me. ( Be warned I will hit you hard)
Slow rolling Lemon would be so EPIC. I might *slow roll Kramp too just to start shit.
*slow roll - to not show down the winning hand immediately so that your opponent feels he won the pot when in fact he played it terribly (I added the last part for sport)
We've talked about it before, but it's gonna happen. Slow roll night! Bad behaviour will be encouraged. I expect to play 96% of the pots just so I can draw out on people to make sick slow rolls. And yes, I too will slow roll Lemon.
I'll save this game for a night when we can play louder than usual, because I don't want anyone to hold back....lol.
There will also be side action on "The race to felt* Kramp".
Also on this night we will have a bonus for anyone that can win the hand with the Jack of Clubs in their hand.
It'll be a great game!
*Felt - used to refer to table felt made visible by being uncluttered with chips from a player having lost them all or taken all of an opponent's. "I felted Kramp when I filled up against his flush.
Good thing I clarified this one eh Kramp?
*clarify - to melt butter
*Kramp - to play poker poorly "I Kramped the bed last night at the poker game."
man, you guys are so mean..... like seriously what have i ever done to you huh? oh, wait that's right........ i take all of your money. meh, whatever, keep being mean i don't care, just as long as you keep shipping your chips to me it's all good!
I went to the casio last night. I started with $200 and thought it was going to be a long night when my 3,3 hit on the flop and then i turned the full house when a 9 fell to pair the board. I bet out and got raised. He didnt have much behind hi s we ended up getting it all in. When he rolled over quad 9s I was slighty upset. I lost the minimum on that one. Ended up playing till 3 and making a whopping profit of $8.00.
ouch that's a cooler. actually i just saw a hand with andrew robl where he lost with quad 9's to quad Q's......very wierd hand ..... look it up it's a good one to watch.
