Still More Poker Shirts

Here are still more poker shirts for you to oogle.  I don't recommend you wear shirt 25 to your chiropractor unless you explain that it is a poker joke.  Shirt 26 is for those that need to add something extra to their arsenal.  I'm not sure if shock and awe is an effective poker strategy but I guess it can't hurt anything but the eyes.

I hope shirt 27 is a poker shirt.  Either way, enjoy this installment of poker shirts you've never seen anyone actually wear.

2011 WSOP Event 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 & 24 Winners

Event #19:  Limit Hold'em / Six Handed

Darren Woods - Event #19 winner
Buy-in: $2 500
Prizepool:  $805 350
Entries:  354

First place money:  $213 431

A woman has not won a WSOP event since Vanessa Selbst took down event #19 at the 2008 WSOP.  It almost happened again this year as Kim Nguyen got heads up with Darren Woods.  In the end the Brit prevailed and Kim Nguyen topped out at 2nd.

Event #20:  No Limit Hold'em

Jason Somerville - Event #20 winner

Buy-in: $1 000
Prizepool:  $2 857 500
Entries:  3 175

First place money:  $493 091

Jason Somerville took down what was described as a wild ride of an event.  He has previously finished fifth, fourth, third and second in WSOP events, so it would that he was due for top spot to complete the cycle.

Event #21:  Seven Card Stud Championship

Bertrand Grospellier - Event #21 winner

Buy-in: $10 000
Prizepool:  $1 184 400
Entries:  126

First place money:  $331 639

The top 16 players that made the money included John Hennigan (4th), Chad Brown (6th), Nick Shulman (9th), Canadian Sorel Mizzi (11th), Jason Mercier (14th) and Matt Hawrilenko (16th).  When it got down to heads up between Steve Landfish and Bertrand Grospellier, an epic head up battle ensued taking 4 hours to complete.  In the end Bertrand Grospellier took it down to complete the triple Crown after previously winning PCA and WPT events.  (Jake Cody did it earlier this WSOP - they are the 3rd and 4th players to achieve this accomplishment.)

Event #22:  Pot Limit Omaha / Six Handed

Elie Payan - Event #22 winner

Buy-in: $1 500
Prizepool:  $1 445 850
Entries:  1 071

First place money:  $292 825

France's Elie Payan showed up a little late for the final table.  Maybe being a little Hellmuthian helped him because in the end, he was the one with the WSOP gold bracelet.

Event #23:  Eight Game Mix

John Monnette - Event #23 winner

Buy-in: $2 500
Prizepool:  $1 112 475
Entries:  489

First place money:  $278 144

The final table had names like John Juanda, John Racener and Eric Buchman but it was John Monnette who won the whole banana.  Top Canadian was Abbotsford's Shawn Buchanan who finished in 20th spot.

Event #24:  No-Limit Hold'em Shootout (2 000) Max

Somewhere in there is Mark Radoja - Event #24 winner

Buy-in: $5 000
Prizepool:  $1 818 900
Entries:  387

First place money:  $436 568

Canada is home to another 2011 WSOP bracelet!  Mark Radoja from Guelph won his first WSOP bracelet in front of a large cheering section that rushed the stage when he won, singing their version of  My Sharona by The Knack;

Ooh my little pretty one.
When you gonna give me some time, Mark Radoja?
Ooh you make my motor run, my motor run.
Gun it common' off the line Mark Radoja!

Our Global Hoof-Print

1.Smashing of hooves1 thumb up
Smashing of hooves occurs when a terrible poker player AKA a donkeyhigh 5's another terrible player.
A terrible poker player called the poker pro with the last of his chips, hoping to hit one of the remaining two 4s on the river. When the miraculous 4 came, he turned to his buddy who was a terrible player in his own right and gave him an exuberant high 5. The poker pro muttered to himself that it was hard to hear himself think over the smashing of hooves.

Dandy and Chris, you have been immortalized!

PokerRoad.com

PokerRoad is a site that has a number of great radio shows that come as podcasts, video content, player blogs, a forum and its own poker league.

The podcast that I tend to listen to is the POKERROADRADIO show that has a revolving number of guest host as well as a number of regulars.  Currently BJ Nemeth and Court Harrington are the regulars with guests like Jimmy Fricke joining in.  They follow all the large live poker events and interview all the top players about all topics poker related.  This podcast is available on itunes or can be listened to on their webpage.  Unfortunately there has been no show posted since May 2nd, so I hope that Black Friday hasn't hurt them too bad, and that the show will go on...

There are 6 other shows that are hosted by PokerRoad, including Cash Plays which was last published on June 6th.

I've poked around the site from time to time and there are some interesting finds, including some past content by Phil Ivey who is good friends with one of the site's owner's Barry Greenstein (who has a couple podcasts of his own).

Joe Seebok is Barry Greenstein's son and is also a particle owner of the site.  Despite harsh criticism from some in the poker world he joined the team of Ultimate Bet as it tried to re-establish it's credibility following a major cheating scandal back in 2008.  If you'd like to read his take on Black Friday, he has blogged about it here -  'Black Friday' Fallout/My Final UB Statement.

An interesting spin off of previous PokerRoadRadio shows is "ShirtRoad" which is hosted here ShirtRoad.  This goes back to when Ali Nejad was host and teamed up with Gavin Smith to drive Seebok nuts by continuing to promote this fake site, that ended up becoming an actual site.  You can get all sorts of cool gear there, a lot of which are a result of the on-going jokes within the various podcasts.

Poker Road Dumpster Fire

If you happen to be on the computer and want to listen to some good poker content as you pay your bills, or post on our blog, I do recommend PokerRoad Radio.

Game this Thursday, June 23rd.

Home game will run this Thursday evening, June 23rd, 2011.

Wear sun glasses or blinders.  Dandy has it in his head that dressing "awesome" helps his play.  It turns out that awesome is way more subjective than you think.

This event will start with a $30 No Limit Texas Hold Em tournament with a cash game to follow.  If you intend on coming, please let me know so I have an idea of the numbers.

Also make sure that you arrive by 7:30 so we can have a 7:45 start.  As a courtesy to the other players, please show up on time.  Last tournament we has 10% of the players show up on time and that includes me and another person that thought they were late.

The jackpot is now at $119.

As always, this is posted under the upcoming games tab.

2011 WSOP Event 16, 17 & 18 Winners

Event #16:  2-7 Draw Lowball Championship (No-Limit)

John Juanda - Event #16 winner
Buy-in: $10 000
Prizepool:  $1 184 400
Entries:  126

First place money:  $367 170

This was a memorable tournament.  Phil Hellmuth was looking for his 12th WSOP bracelet and came one spot away from getting it.  Those in the money were a who's who in the poker world.  Nick Shulman, Greg Raymer, Bertrand Grospellier, Johnny Chan and Brandon Cantu were all in the top 14 spots, but it was John Juanda that took the bracelet after getting heads up with Phil Hellmuth with a 3:1 chip deficit.

Event #17:  H.O.R.S.E.

Aaron Steury - Event #17 winner

Buy-in: $1 500
Prizepool:  $1 300 050
Entries:  963

Deep runs were made by Layne Flack, Victor Ramdin and Eli Elezra but the man who took down the whole enchilada was Aaronb Stuery of Indiania.

Event #18:  No-Limit Hold'em

Foster Hayes - Event # 15 winner
Buy-in: $1 500
Prizepool:  $4 261 950
Entries:  3 157

First place money:  $735 400

This day was planned for 3 days, but needed a 4th to Foster a winner.  Hahahaha...  Next year expect this event to be taken down by a Dipper!

Blog Bonus Promotion Ended

I have ended the Blog Bonus Promotion.  (Cue the bagpipes)

Below is the content that used to be the "Blog Bonus" page.  The bonus was designed to give incentive for more comments on the blog, but after the initial bump, the comments have levelled out.  The money currently in the blog bonus fund has been moved over to the jackpot bonus.

Jackpot Winners - if you haven't checked this page out recently, I highly recommend it!  It documents all the winning jackpot hands and dates and the pictures that are posted are awesome.

The jackpot with the blog bonus money added is currently at $119

Blog Bonus Winners

For every day that you make at least one comment on the blog, I will enter your name into a draw for a free $30 buy in for the cash game.  This will be paid to you in chips.  This draw will take place every 2 to 3 months and you will not need to be present to win.  You will have 6 months to show up and use the bonus or I will roll it over to have 2 separate winners in the next draw.   I will keep track of the number of days you have commented and fill the ballots out (ballots and chips are non-transferable)

March 22, 2011 - Big Stack Bobby Allen
Picture may not represent date of award.  It does represent Bob however.

Poll Results - Ivey Skipping the WSOP?

Phil Ivey didn't realize that the Humphrey's were supporting him and not just the lead of an unruly mob, so go he went.

Well people seemed to like Phil Ivey's moral stand vs Tiltware and think nothing will change in that situation to make him unbar himself from this year's WSOP.  I hope they are wrong, but I suspect they are right.

WILL PHIL IVEY END UP PLAYING ANY OF THE 2011 WSOP?

The next poll has a direct effect on this blog, so please go and vote.  This is information I need to serve you better...

A message board would contain threads about all sorts of topics about our game and the poker world at large.  It is very useful in adding information to a subject like poker's black friday or any subject that is more of an on-going discussion.  As a user, you would be able to post links and way more information than you can in the comments box.  It should also be easier to maintain a thread's discussion than simply using our comment boxes because now if a comment goes unanswered, within a few days it gets lost in the archives.

Dip on the Road - Week 3 of 10

Week three was held on Tuesday night and this time we took the show on the road.  Philly's doublewide garage was the perfect set up for a summer game except for the fact that our usual done-at-12 timeline pushed to 3 AM and Philly had a really really early appointment at 10:30 AM.

The first game started without Dandy Bloch who was in T.O. in what I imagine was a second trip for underground poker lessons. The other no-show was Cheeseburger who called from my house as the first few hands were being played.  Apparently he lives in a box (under a heat lamp) and didn't bother to check where the game was being played.  He didn't receive a ticket, racing back to Philly's who basically lives across the street from him.

Big Stack had more points than the Phil Ivey lawsuit
X marked the spot, and that spot was by the door.
K-Diddy brought his chip management team.
Mike took the Lemoncoaster to 9th street.  Twice.
Dandy played tight like a tiger in his absence.
Cheeseburger played like it was 9 at the mall - he closed the Gap.
Philly walked blindly into a full house.
Sloppy had the chips in his windshield removed by Lemon Autoglass
Dycker played game 1 like the Bruins, and game 2 like the Canucks.
Chocolate Chips was only semi-sweet.
I delivered BSB a big plate of rotten beets.

Winner of game 5 - Dycker

Game 1

11 points - Dycker
10 points - K-Diddy
9 points - Big Stack
8 points - Cheeseburger
7 points - Philly
6 points - Dandy Bloch
5 points - Chocolate Chips
4 points - Sloppy Slow Pots
3 points - Lemon
2 points - C-Funk
1 lowly point - X

Winner of game 6 - C-Funk

Game 2

11 points - C-Funk
10 points - Big Stack
9 points - Cheeseburger
8 points - K-Diddy
7 points - Dandy Bloch
6 points - Philly
5 points - X
4 points - Chocolate Chips
3 points - Lemon
2 points - Dycker
1 lowly point - Sloppy Slow Pots

Note:  One session after Big Stack Bobby set an almost unbeatable low point record with 3 points in a night, he came back with a new record for high points with 19.  It kind of sums up BSB's game.  NIce work buddy!
